Default Twinview Screen resolution problem, edid override

I recently upgraded my 17" dell LCD to a 19" syncmaster 913v from samsung. Previously, I was able to run 2 1280x1024 displays, but I have been unable to get the samsung display to produce more then 1024x786, either with the nvidia-settings gui or modifying the xorg.conf file as various others have suggested on this forum.

The samsung LCD does not appear to properly transmit its properties with the edid; I have attempted to disable those options dependent upon the edid. According to the edid, the max Hsync is 61; according to samsung's manual, it is 81. Similarly, the max resolution in the edid is lower then then the manual.

Thanks much for your help
