WHy all the bitching... this game looks absolutely amazing!! Even on DX10 you can put everything on High... enable a few Very High items (like sun rays and water) and it will play a smooth 25FPS at 1920x1200. How someone can bitch about the graphics in this game is beyond me...

Exactly. Look at his system specs, then read "25 FPS". Man, if I had those specs and ever saw any game drop below 60 FPS in the next 2 years, I'd have a friggin fit! Anything under 40 FPS in these modern games is unplayable. I mean sure, you could force your way through it and say, "see I played it". By unplayable, I mean not reasonably smooth and stutter free, or not "enjoyable" by any reasonable standard.

The way I see it, some of you guys pay double what these video cards are worth ($550+), not only once but you go SLI and pay it twice, then take the standard "acceptable" PC game frame rate of 60 FPS and cut in half, then drop a few more frames off for good measure, then run around saying "I have no trouble playing *insert game name*! It runs smooth as butter on my rig at 25 FPS!"

Smooth as butter....is 60+
People who have "extreme" specs like any 8 series card in SLI and a fairly new dual core should be getting 80+ FPS in whatever game they play. If not...you're friggin nuts if you think you got your money's worth.

It's like if I was dating a grossly fat, smelly woman with green teeth and horrid breath and an afro, who put me $40,000 in debt buying Crystal Meth from the dealer down the street from her Trailer Park, and me saying, "Damn she is fine, and a classy, good woman as well!"

You have in this screen

+ shadow system, Far Cry not has shadows in outdors

+ HDR + AA + oclusion ambient

+ post effects like motion blur etc

+ models with high polycount , with avanced shaders . All models are more complex , soldiers, trees, etc

+ procedural models , like grass

+ 3-5 times more Polygons in screen

+ Physic system

Some of this settings has a 50 % performance drop , they alone , like shadows system

The correct comparative is Crysis/ Far Cry with Crysis in low , maybe with some features in medium - the wather . But I think that Crysis in low has more polycount that Far Cry , the enemy polycount in Far Cry is very low compared with Crysis in low or medium

He's not smoking anything. Crysis plays smoothly at 25fps. it's a game thing, some games are playable at low fps, others are not. Crysis is.

firstly, GF8 series is 1 year old. and that means a LOT in graphics card world. GF8 certainly gives it's money's worth. you name it, TES4, CoH, Fear, CoD4, CoJ etc all of them are playable at their maximum settings (assuming you use 1920x1200 res).

you need to understand/realize that Crysis WASN'T Developed to be played SMOOTHLY on current-gen hardware. put simply, the game offers photo-realistic graphics. you expect CGI-Movie graphics at 60fps?Crysis has been already toned DOWN to make it playable (highest shader option was removed). Crysis has by far the best graphics ever seen in any game. those Ultra-high res textures aren't small by any means, they take up a lot of space. not to mention the physics and the AI; and the fact that Crysis renders a whole island in real-time.

All that load goes on GPU and CPU. truthfully speaking, you won't get great performance on current-gen cards. that said, Crysis's performance is less-than-stellar because the game isn't properly utilizing all available technologies (SLI, Quad Core) I already mentioned that Crytek mentioned that they got all the DX10 drivers/SDK late. hence, they didn't have enough time to optimize it since they have a deadline to follow. now with the game finally released, they can work on patches to optimize and improve the performance. while it won't jump from 25 to 70. it will undoubtedly get better with each driver revision. this is PC gaming, things get better, but it always takes time. Crysis is no exception.

you can never hit two birds with one stone (normally, anyway) and this matter is no different. if you want crysis to play 40fps+ all the time at high/VH settings, you need to wait for next-gen cards. IMO, 25fps works fine for SP.

Swed you've been warned about this crap before.

If you're suffering from tourette's syndrome, please tell someone about it.

Otherwise, leave the childish name calling tantrums for Xbox Live.
