Smile Re: Congrats on the 169.04 release

It fixes the crashes on my Geforce 7500LE with 100.14.11 and 100.14.19.

I can use the beta now instead of keep patching/hacking 100.14.9.

Thanks.

Then again, this IS a beta release and the nvidia guys over here once stated that the solution of this particular problem might not be entirely in their hands.
I tried it and love it... for the first few hours...
Compiz runs better, no freeze at all, 3 vidéos playing in 3 desktop and showed using exposé = it runs perfectly for 1h30.
But once my computer put the monitor in sleep mode I can't get it back. Neon of the display light again but screen remain black.
Once connected using ssh I can't get any error message. Perhaps there isn't anyone. I think it's screen-saver related. I'll try disabling it.

You're lucky Compiz runs better. Some of us can't use Compiz at all with this driver. No GLX FB Config for default depth, failed to manage screen :0, no manageable screens found on display: 0.0.

I posted a thread with a bug report. Meanwhile, I'll go back to 100.14.23.

Nice release. Compiz works fine here, but it worked fine before. Speed seems good. No issues so far on my 8800GTS. Thanks for the great work!

I'm getting the same issue on my Presario v6000 with the GeForce Go 6150.

If the monitor goes into sleep (or I deactivate it manually via DPMS), it won't come back -- the LCD backlight turns on but the screen stays blank. The same happens if I switch to a tty -- backlit but black screen -- and I can't switch back to my X session. The terminals are still responsive though; I can login and use them blind.

No freezes at all, you say? What exactly is your board? Mine is a GeForce Go 6150 and I'm getting freezes all the time...

asus w7j Go7400 report on those beta drivers.

* Added an interface to monitor PowerMizer state information.
=> works great. I always wondered it powermizer was ever working. I had no data point of comparison because this laptop never ever ran windows. really interesting to see it go up in freqs, then step back, and intelligently toggling between desktop/maxperf modes on demand if I run or idle out opengl software.
* Worked around a Linux kernel/toolchain bug that caused soft lockup errors when suspending on some Intel systems.
=> now both hibernate and suspend to ram work flawlessly (s2r was deadlocking hard)

I like this piece of work, nVidia

@dahveed3 & Keyper7 : I've got a 6100 on not a 6150, memory is set on auto. my laptop is a packard bell easynote SW51-101 W. I use ubuntu 7.10 at this moment.
I get 2 (WW) NVIDIA related in my /var/log/Xorg.0.log :
Code:
(WW) NVIDIA: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:10:3) found
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Option "AddARGBVisuals" is not used
@phssthpok : I can prevent screen issues on disabling sleep mode in gnome power manager and screensaver. For tty, screen is black when switching but work like a charm when coming back on X session.

It's beta, nothing's dead

EDIT : Just a think, when I watch a youtube/dailymotion/whatever-on-the-web video I got these old well-known freeze

Thumbs up Re: Congrats on the 169.04 release

Geforce 6150: works great. 169.04 is the best driver in Nvidia history.
2D,3D,Xv,XvMC works fast and fluently. XRender improvement is masterpiece.
I run xrender_bench over and over I'm so happy with XRender improvement .

HIP HIP Hurray for Nvidia !!!
I lost my faith when XvMC became R.I.P in Geforce8 but XRender allows me to still believe in Nvidia Linux Driver team wisdom.

Gonna ressurect this old post because I have to ask zbiggy something...

zbiggy, is your board a 6150 or a GO 6150? I have a Go 6150 and 169.04 is giving me black terminals... (not hangings, I can still type blindly)
