Hi Dren72: I've just saw you have an HR-03 installed on your P5E3 Deluxe. I have similar components and you also kept your sound card, which is what I want to do. I'm looking forward to do that in my machine which already has a VF1000 installed. Do you think it might be possible to fit an HR-03 in this configuration. Please take a look at this pictures: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums...ic.php?t=47716 How did you fit your HR-03, did you have enough space? Do you have by any chance a picture of your current rig? THat will help a lot. Thanks a bunch in advance! |

I have enough space for the upper most PCI slot for the sound card as long as I do two things with the HR-03. First, install it so the cooler/fan is below the video card. Second, install the lower screws used to hold the HR-03 onto the video card backward. I found if I did not reverse the large screws then they would protrude and hit the sound card. Reversing them was easy and has worked fine. Using this approach the cooler clears the PCI sound card and the PCI-E slot above it also is completely clear to use if I where using an Asus Xonard D2X PCI-E sound card.

Thanks for showing the picture... awesome...
But I think it only applies to your sound card.... I have a PCI Bluegears B-Enspirer Card or a PCI-E Xonar D2X to choose from. The Xonar won't fit on the top PCI-E 1X because it conflicts with the the sticks of ram. I don't know how your card is so thin... wow... Still I don't see your screws reversed.... they appear like on the original type of installation. (Correct me if I'm wrong) How did you place that sound card in there. it seems like if the screw passed through.... Do you have a complete picture of the rig, not angular... Something like the pics I show below. I really really want to see how much clearance you have with the HR-03 and the fan on the bottom. I still can't see how you made it... Big big thanks in advance... My rig before with a Bluegears Soundcard (PCI): ![]() My rig now with a Xonar D2X Soundcard (PCI-E) (I really want to try an HR-03) ![]() Thanks a bunch!!!

I'm carefully observing your pictures...
Question Dren: You only inverted 2 of the screws or all of them? I've just ordered a HR-03 Plus, and I'm going to try it with my B-Enpirer Soundcard your way and see if it fit... Also if it doesn't work, what model(exactly is your X-Fi) card, and have you enjoyed a good experiennce with it? Thanks a bunch!!

It's been a great card overall. I've been very happy with it.
