There was a Shadowrun MMO in development for a while, it was shut down by Microsoft because the developer didn't have any license to make the game.

Honestly, I'd rather have a real RPG than an MMO. Endless grinding and 5 million competing shadowrunners doing the same thing just doesn't sound like it'd fit the setting or feeling of the game.

The P&P RPG was originally meant to be played in small groups. It'd be pretty cool if they had like 25-50 player shadowrunners per city\world and the rest of the population were NPCs, but any more would just kill the feeling that you were an outlaw mercenary for hire, keeping a low profile and hiding in the shadows to avoid corporate thugs and the Lonestar (police).

Making WoW with guns and calling it shadowrun would be almost as bad as the Shadowrun FPS.

EDIT: One of the greatest games of all time:

I think I'm going to be sitting here refreshing this page until a new Shadowrun RPG is released...

This is awesome news!

Honestly the last MechWarrior I really got into was MW2: 31st Century Combat. That game was so intense!

I'd really love to have a new Mechwarrior. One that played like MW2: 31st Century Combat but had the graphics equal or exceeding that of Crysis. I'd die a happy happy man.

Here is the "Smith and Tinker" website.

Not really much there though.

http://www.smithandtinker.com/news/

The most notable thing though is that they don't really make "games" in the traditional sense of a PC, console or pen and paper game.

Also, the founder of the company and creator of all of this great FASA stuff, Jordan Weisman, has been involved with so called "Alternate Reality Games" lately. Its hard to say exactly what this means with regards to all of the licenses he just obtained... I hope this isn't where Shadowrun is going, but then again, this is something so new and unique that it could be very interesting.

Getting Mechwarrior 5 would make my decade! Especially if it has the depth of MW2 with modern graphics and physics1

Mechwarrior would make an awesome PvP based MMO.

Kind of like http://www.exteel.com/us/ but more persistent.

Only because Mechwarrior and Crimson Skies have been left to rot on the shelf. While its possible these guys might not do anything with these franchises, companies generally don't shell out money for franchises unless they intend to us them.

I just hope the new owners are capable of delivering great games...

He didn't kill it. He had nothing to do with Shadowrun games after the Genesis game in 1994.

If by "killed" you mean "sold his entire company to microsoft" then I guess thats true. But I doubt he'd make that mistake again.
