new beta driver does not fix this issue,
brightness fn-keys still do not work with nvidia driver... (on samsung R70 aura T7500 Denet) my first post and email were ignored... http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...=100494&page=2 brightness fn-keys do work nice with nv, vesa, mesa driver's OR in tty1 console and so on. the possible way to change the backlight brightness if nvidia driver is used(loaded): ctrl+alt+f1 --> changing brightness with fn keys --> alt+f7 back to X with nvidia driver. |

which DE are you using? if you set brightness to a certain value, does lowering the brightness in X decreases it to the lowest value? does blacklisting/unloading the video module changes something?
because there has been an update in hal, and apps like gnome-power-manager have only been updated recently to comply. see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469748 and http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8712 |

I have same problem with adjusting LCD backlight brightness on my TOSHIBA Tecra S5.
When i finally managed to install driver and start X (because of Fedora core 8 bug), i've discovered that brightness controling doesn't work. Using Fedora Core 8, KDE, kernel: 2.6.23.4-42fc8 Nvidia device: Nvidia quadro NVS 130M As said redmary, I can adjust brightness in tty, and with nv, vesa, mesa drivers. When I adjust brightness in tty and than i start X server, brightness keeps same in KDE as in tty. So i actually can change brightness by starting and shutting down Xserver, but it isn't very comfortable. Please, developers solve that problem. |
