Too bad epic can't make a patch that fixes the splash screen to desktop crash that hundreds of people at this point are having (myself included)

why cant they?

Have you guys been able to trace it to something? a series of driver, or video card? maybe something else you installed? If you have exhausted everything, have you reformated and started from scratch?

One of the reasons I like an isolated game PC is it dosnt get any of the extra programs and junk installed onto it from video editors, players, net apps and such from my normal pc needs.

Haven't had any crashes in Vista or XP (dual-boot) with the game myself.

I'm glad we're (almost) all in agreement that UT3 is rubbish. Perhaps our collective unhappiness will coax Epic to fix the show-stopper spash screen crash bug, and to release a content patch to give us something other than piddly little maps and three decade-old game modes that have long since grown boring.

All the screen shots just look like UT2k4 with some new lighting.... and to think... I ALMOST wasted money on the game... lol. I loved the UT2k4 game style... and if UT3 had some better graphics... id probably pick it up after some patches

Every single other game works just fine though...and I'm not going to go through the hassle of reformatting and re-installing all my stuff just to play (from what I can tell from all the unbiased gamer's reviews) a sub par game. Ut2K4 runs like a champ.

mm, yea... well your loss. I love it. Only sucky part is im sure it will be awhile before we will see any new maps on par with the included ones. Still, plenty of room to improve game types withe mutators.

They cannot touch Deathmatch or ctf (no farking vehicle ctf) .Thats always been the main points of interest for me,thats what unreal tournament is all about.

I played through the single player campaign. I really had a lot of fun with it... I don't see this game dying, but they do need to get all the bugs fixed. I haven't experienced a single bug yet (thank god), so so far, I can't complain about it.

And please don't say this game is UT2k4 with improved lighting. I'll post screenshots side-by-side and show you that this game is definitely not UT2k4. The character models are 10x more detailed than they were in UT2k4, and the shader effects are also highly improved. Personally, I'm glad this game runs @ 60fps at 1920x1200, all highest settings. At that point, this game looks gorgeous... It's no crysis, but the visuals definitely give Call of Duty 4 a run for its money.

I actually stoped the single player compaign when I got like 6 maps in, but then the game lost my progress (I had been using the player profile, which dosnt save). Since its nothing more then a cheesy story using regular maps.. im just setting up instant fights (as well as online multiplay of course).
