ie a Wii game would be reviewed in respect to the Wii's potential, not compared to 360 graphics.

I also think you should have to post a digital photo of the game box so people know you own it. This would eliminate dick heads from reviewing games they've never played, or played once on a gamestop demo console.
Like I said, this is just a formal rating system of the user opinions that have been shared here for years.

If someone wants to give an SNES game a serious 1 out of 10 for graphics and others will seriously think comparing the game to Crysis is a valid way to review the game, then thats their business.

The scores are up to the reviewer.

Its up to everyone else which reviewers they can trust and agree with.

I'll say it right now, I will not be moderating this system as far as making sure scores are "fair" or balanced. I'm only offering a standard scale for people to use.

That's exactly what I think the point of these should be as well. I really do like the way it is nice and simple. I don't really even know what you mean by art direction and really don't care. If I rate I'm probably going to compare it to previous games in that genre or earlier titles. For instance I would compare COD4 to COD3/2/UO/1 and give my thought on what has improved not improved. I may or may not have even played Crysis, so it wouldn't be fair for me to judge COD4 versus Crysis because I haven't played much of it at all.

To me a rating system really doesn't have any base to stand on if the reviewer didn't give a simple paragraph as to why they gave those scores. It might be hard to tell where someone is coming from and why they gave their scores with just a couple of numbers. Let me stress again the word simple, as in 2 - 3 sentences.

One more thing that you need to have in your rating system is what type of system it was played on. Going back with COD4, someone's rating of it might be totally differenct if it was played on the PS3 or 360 versus the computer. It would be really helpful on multiplatform games to list which platform you used.

Just added a note about the specs and platform in my first post. That should do.

wait, are we doing scores in this thread? I thought we'd do the scores in the game threads, so people wouldn't have to sort through any which game?

We could make a thread that has links to all game scores on a game by game basis, such as the feedback thread "directory" thread.

lol I'm not serious, I was just trying to piss people off. But I did play the demo, and TBH if the rest of the game is like that, that score wouldn't be too far off the mark for me.

I'm gonna go into the console section and review some of my favorites

Hey is there any way MikeC can set up a special poll option so we could see the average opinion at the beginning of the thread?

I changed some of the descriptions a tad just to emphasize that these are personal scores, not ones from the perspective of "Joe Gamer".

If "Super Shooter 5000" uses the most advanced effects in the world but you thought it only looked "good", give it a 7 or an 8, regardless of the other 1000 people that give it a 10.

If you guys want to go back through the "official game threads" thread and post your scores\reviews in the old threads, that'd be a good way to start getting this ball rolling.

Sadly, I just have other stuff on my mind lately and haven't had any ambition to touch any of the great single player games that are waiting for me. I've been playing a lot of TF2, Red Orchestra and some misc HL and HL2 mods. I don't think I'll actually be making use of my review system any time soon.
