The 9700 was a beast, pure and simple. One of my all time favorite cards. It was probably the last with excellent AF until the 8800 series, and I still say it gives it a run for its money on that aspect. The X800, the x1800, the 6000, and 7000 cards all had awful AF, IMO.

tHE problem is that DX10 is only with Vista, so nobody care to develop a real dx10 engine.

Real dx10 engine = better performance and visual.

Few OS Vista = Few game studios intrested to develop pure DX10 Games
Few OS Vista = Few Publishers interested to sell pure DX10 Games

Vista = NO MARKET

The guilty as usually is Microsoft

Maybe we will see a real DX10 game with Alan Wake

It totally destroyed the GeForce 4 series, and the nVidia response, the FX series, arrived several months later and was a complete joke (much like the X2900 was this summer), with just decent DX8 performance but really terrible at DX9. Hence the framerate loss at this graph.
I said most, I didn't say all.

Compare a 5900XT to an X300, a 6200, or a 9550.
