Default Half Life: Source

I just got it and I'm not that impressed so far...

To any of you that played both versions - should I've gone for the original?

Also it does not seem like the "Paranoia" mod will run on HL: Source...

yeah well most mods won't run on it, but for me who has played through hl1 10 times I prefer to play through hl:source now. Reason is better water, better lighting, better audio and ragdolls, the game still feels classic but a few nice upgrades made it fresh for me.

Black Mesa Source is what I think HL Source should have been. It's not out yet though

It's hard to decide between HL: Source and the Original with the HD pack that came with Blue Shift. Ideally we should have HL: Source WITH the HD pack, but Valve and or Gearbox decided against this.

I prefer the HD pack myself, though Source is good for the nostalgia.

HL source fixed a few bad bugs, like the never explained "Die on the elevator for no reason" bug. Plays much smoother, better audio.

You only got that bug because you dislike HL2 so much.

True... I would kind of rather have a similar HL1 remake than a HL3.

But I'm weird like that... said the same thing about Morrowind and the next TES game. I just love some games sooooo much I would love to see them all modern and polished.

Yeah I want Black Mesa: Source too... but ti's been in the making for quite a while now, Nuclear Dawn looks awesome too. Damn we need those mods!

Hmm.... I really want to try that mod out, looks like I will have to get HL: Original after all!

Thanks for the responses guys!

I never played the original Half Life. I decided to wait for the high res texture pack, but that was never finished, so I decided to wait for Black Mesa... I could be waiting for quite some time.

Even with the dated graphics it's worth playing. Probably one of the best balanced FPS Out there imho.
