Thumbs up Vista and XP almost identical with Unreal Tournament 3 Performance:

Not sure why others got worse results, perhaps it was because here a quad-core is being used, and other tests were using dual-cores, so perhaps Vista background processes were slowing down their benchmarks.

So I figured I'd do a few tests to see how Vista is doing compared to XP in this popular title. Some were reporting huge differences, but with the configuration I used (Q6600@ghz, 8800gt, etc.) I did not see that much difference. I used the latest WHQL drivers for both XP and Vista.

I'd like to see these comparisons done on a range of systems. Quad cores definitely don't represent the main. Saying it runs as good on a quad with 4gb and a 8800gt should be a no brainer. I'd like to see dual core 2.8ghz, 2gb and a 8800GTS (old version) to be the system used.

2gb of RAM, not 4, else 64-bit would be employed.

Besides, at 1680x1050 and 2048x1536, the GPU is more in question, but the CPU still helps, as Tim Sweeney says, Unreal Engine 3 mainly runs on two cores, but employs "helper threads" on the other cores.
