Stalker, the movie...

It has everything (well, almost) S.t.a.l.k.e.r. (the game) has: it a post-apocalyptic wilderness Zone, it has metal nuts throw by "Stalkers" down a path before walking in.

By the way, the movie is based on a russian novel, Roadside Picnic, in which the Zone if full of artifacts and anomalies...

Now, first off, I have to watch the movie and read the book, as soon as I get hold of them , then, has anyone noticed any kind fo reference to either the movie or the book in the game (both in game and on the box/booklet) ?

Edit: Ok, nevermind, I just found a really old thread (back to 2004) about the first Stalker screenshots and in the second or third page there was a discussion about the game, the movie, and the book. My fault for not checking thoroughly the forum before posting (although noone back then cited Tarkovskij, and that's the reason why I didn't find a reference for the movie by doing a simple search)... Oh well...

I haven't seen it, but someone should remake this. Preferably not Michael Bay.

Yeah it isn't a horror movie, and it is a Russian movie there is no special effects in it at all, it is purely a thriller.

It's a philosophical movie more than anything. It's based on Roadside Picnic. It's my dad's favorite movie. I've seen it twice. I'd rather someone do a movie on the game.

Yeah its a very slow movie, mainly dialog and stuff.
Dont expect any action or horror movie, its a far cry from the game.
Also, its in russian.

Andrei Tarkovsky also made the original Solaris, been meaning to see that.

When the game was first announced they said it was based of the movie. I've seen it. Was a cult movie on SBS along time ago. Don't remember much about it though.

There are some great Russian movies. Take the Night Watch Trilogy. It's a little confusing after the translation, but it's something fresh. Also the special effects are some of the best I've ever seen. Like the chick who turns into a Tiger. That scene was awesome.

I saw Stalker movie in the TV of my country, many years ago, with subtitles. The DVD that sells in my country has subtitles in several languages. In any case, Stalker is not an easy movie, it is a style so slow and symbolic as the 2001 one space odyssey. It is not comfortable to see
