I have justed ordered a new graphics card, a 8800GTS (512MB). I suppose that I will have to wait for a new linux driver ? I hope really soon

Could you guys please inform me how did you install your card? I just did last night under Ubuntu... Removed all the ATi drivers with Envy and Synaptec. Than installed the card and latest beta drivers (they said something about kernel modules and how the driver will "compile" them on its own).
In xorg file it says driver "nvidia" but I have no direct rendering ![]() Should I install some things from Synaptec as well? Or try the older driver there first? Here is the link to Ubuntu forums post I made: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=645029 Thank you for your time! |
