This highly anticipated Battlefield 2 mod will be released in a little over 4 hours.
![]() http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com...sh=yes&mod=FH2 You can pre-download the file with a torrent now and then you'll just have to put in the password to extract the .rar once they release it. This is probably going to be the mother of all World War 2 games if it lives up to expectations. Quote:
EDIT: Wow this is some really high quality stuff. The animations and sound effects are at least as good as any retail games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijv1BRKwNk0

I really hope so, been waiting for this mod for a very long time.
However I just hope they don't go over board with the realism. Granted I like realism but when it slows the game down to a crawl it's not worth it. Now if my flight is not canceled tomorrow afternoon, I may have something to play on Sunday!

very well done! graphics are leaps and bounds ahead of BG Frontlines, and sofar the gameplay seems good.
it runs fantastic. not sure what the frame rates are but @1600x1200 16xCSAA 16xAF max settings it runs smooth, not a hint of a slow down! ![]() |

Just put some time into it and its definitely awesome.
Feels pretty familiar if you've played Red Orchestra, but its different enough that its worth playing. My only gripes are that some of the levels are horribly unbalanced. They are still fun, but the way the game is scored just makes it impossible for one team to win. For example, on Aberdeen, the server stats said that the germans (team 2) won 198 times vs 0 for the allies. How balance issues like that made it past alpha stage is beyond me, but the game was still enjoyable. The other big thing for me is the grenades. They are horrible. There is a huge delay on throwing them and you have no control over when they are thrown or how far they go. This is bad enough without the 60 foot blast radius. I clicked and held the button and he started messing with the grenade and then tossed it without warning. It stuck on a road about 40 feet away and when it blew up it killed 2 team mates that were inside a nearby building... ![]() Also, AT rifles don't seem to do anything to tanks. Really. They are practically worthless against armor. Side armor shots, front armor shots, up close, far away... they don't even seem to register. The only time I did any damage to a tank with an AT (anti-tank...) rifle was when the tank was angled up on a hill and I could shoot the bottom of it. Even then, I shot it 8 times, only 3 registered and it didn't appear to do any significant damage. Strangely, I had better luck taking down aircraft with the AT rifle. I killed the first stuka I saw with one, and landed about a dozen other shots later in the round. Great game but those little things are irritating. EDIT: Also, I don't know if this is related to vista, dual cores, video drivers or ridiculously high framerates, but the mouse movement is really twitchy for some reason. I think BF2 was like this the last time I played. When zoomed in or aiming I don't have the problem but when im looking around (especially indoors) the mouse sensitivity seems to change at random which causes the mouse to jump around a little. It seems like a multi-core related issue I've seen in other games.
