...of a sharp aquos against a Mitsubishi DLP TV? I can't think of any, but are there any advantages that I'm not realizing? What could possibly be better about a sharp aquos lcd?

DLP TVs generally look like crap (or can't even be seen) from all but one seat, LCD TVs have a much better viewing angle, are much smaller and have a sharper picture.
Just my experience though. I haven't seen a mistubishi DLP, but the brands I have seen looked pretty damn terrible compared to LCD and Plasma screens.

Cap, you need to sample some real TV's. LCD and Plasma take second seat to LCoS and DLP.

The ones I saw were most likely crap, but I figured the technology was generally the same. When standing in front of one at a store, the screen was completely black from about 4 feet away. I couldn't see it unless I was either crouching\sitting down or standing much (MUCH) further back, and even then the corners of the screen were darker than the center. From anywhere but straight on, the picture was noticeably dark. It was an RCA though. Which I know is far from a top brand these days. The picture quality wasn't anything special either. The other LCD and Plasma TVs around it had sharper pictures and were about 100x brighter and had little to no discoloration at angles. To be honest, it didn't look any better than the projection TVs I'd seen in the past except it was a little clearer (720p). I haven't really been too impressed with the quality of any HD TVs I've seen. I'll have to go to a big electronics store to see good TVs that were set up correctly.

Most big stores don't set their TVs up properly.
Try to find some guys who know what they are doing. |

Yup... I got a DLP and it is very good... and I haven't had to replace the bulb yet, but doing so seems easy enough, and I prefer that over having to buy an entirely new set (I burn through hours on a TV like no other).

People are really going to love their Plasma TVs when the colour goes and they learn that it is now trash. |

I agree, plasmas suck because the run hot as hell and they burn out too damn easy. Thanks to everyone who answered this thread. I had just been wondering because this mitsubishi dlp is 4'9" and it's like ~$1335. Seemed really inexpensive compared to much smaller LCDs with less features.
