Default Congrats on the 169.04 release

Even if it is beta, this seems like a production release.

Bugs are fixed, performance is increased. Excellent work.

Saw a ~5fps jump on the ET: QW demo 00000. Xv bug is fixed. New PowerMizer option in nvidia-settings.

I think we'll be satisfied for a while.

Seems it fixes stability issues with my 6600gt as well. Up until now, I have been getting frequent freezes / lockups when playing Sauerbraten, but these have disappeared with this new beta release. Game play is now also much smoother than before and my frame rate is a little higher. Good job guys

I also noticed a performance increase, tho i only tested one app (GTA:SA under wine).

I actually have some problems with this release. There were some problems when I tried Regnum Online (the skybox looked like a chessboard, i.e.), and when I run glxgears my laptop makes some strange noices (high-frequent beep) and the performance was like 20% less than normal.

I have yet not done any extensive testing, but I'll post a bugreport (here?) if I can't solve these problems. I have a 8600M GT 512MB (Zepto).

As far as geforce 7 users go, I believe you guys have solved our problems. I'm sure it must have taken an incredible amount of work and I assure you I am grateful. I opened at least 30 firefox windows plus an .avi movie and several games without a crash, simply excellent. I do hope you ensure that there are no more regressions, but I understand this is a tough business. At any rate, this beta seems promising.

Thank you nvidia!

This is why i bought 8800GT and junked my old X800. Xorg runs so much faster. I no longer have these issues like i had on X800

1. Adobe reader does not freeze for 4-6 seconds when scrolling with the mouse wheel
2. Video playback does not have tearing when in fullscreen
3. Moving windows is much more smoother.

Great!

Am I the only one getting black&white TV-OUT over Composite cable on a PAL TV with this beta?

Works fine on 100.14.23 and below, card is a 7200 GS.

Nope. In fact, I had the impression that the freezes seemed to be more frequent after the upgrade.

Then again, this IS a beta release and the nvidia guys over here once stated that the solution of this particular problem might not be entirely in their hands.
