Ok I have time to do it today.

So is a paper towel good or not for wiping off the past off of the processor? For those that say yes, are you serious or joking?

Where does the "anti vibration strip" go? The diagram was very fuzzy and black and white.

Also, do I just follow the details on the manual? Because some "techie" sites have a ton of extra of procedures like polishing and cleaning the base of the heatsink first. Those are unecessary right?

Also, can the alcohol go onto the CPU? Wouldn't it be damaged?

Furthermore, the AS paste that I have is several years old, it's still fine right? I didn't heat it or anything.

Also, is there really no need to cover the heat spreader from corner to corner with the paste? Would it be better to do so?

the strips go where the fan will rest against the heat sink. near the outer edges. Just take some alcohol and rub around the heat sink base and the CPU heat spreader until the paper towel is no longer turning grey (thermal residue) Be carefull mounting it its not easy the screws w/springs is a pain in the butt!

Good luck!

I used pharmacy rubbing alcohol, didn't say anything about oil.

Done, damn that was bad, Thermalright has the worst installation procedure that I know of. Never had to take off a motherboard to install a backplate! almost broke the PCB.

Also, the fan brackets are annoying, they are troublesome to install.

Also, the heatsink is huge that the HR-11 is blocking the path from the U120 to the exhaust fans.

Now questions,

The Silverstone seems to require fancontroller to work properly. Can the controler be replaced with some system setting? Where do you mount the fan controller any way? Tie it onto the fan?

Also, what fan speed is the best for the U120?

Thanks.
