PS3 Gets DivX playback!! Tomorrow!

I played with the settings a bit but I found that videos look very pixellated and show poor interpolation with Nero. I just checked out some avi files with the new DIVX codecs and it looks significantly better then using Nero.

Simply a added functionality spec.. I woulden't concern yourself with it much, there is a 1.2 profile being worked on that wikipedia doesn't mention http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/1140

I tried Nero. Didn't like it too clunky and compared to XBMC and 360 the quality is terrible.

Yeah, why concern yourself with the profile spec that at last FINALLY somewhat makes BD interactive, which HD DVD has been since launch.

2 Questions since I'm too busy at work and can't try this until the weekend.

1) I assume that since it plays Divx, it also supports Xvid, is this the case?
2) What functionality does the Divx playback have? Can you both stream it from our PC (over Lan or Wireless) and can you burn a Divx file to a cd/dvd and play it on the PS3...

Well Divx is Xvid so it should work but ive read tons of posts on the playstation forums where people having huge problems with some xvid movies i dunno why.. either movie never starts or it goes black after 5 seconds.. it seems not the best playback they added, worse then 360.

Well most of my vids are xvid....i have not in a long time downloaded material in divx 3.11....

I ran into problems with several Xvid encoded avi files. I was watching an avi movie off a USB key that was in two parts (CD1 and CD2). The first part played fine but the second part wouldn't even start. I took the USB key out of my PS3 and put it into my 360. Both parts (1 & 2) played without a hitch. I wonder what's causing this problem...
