How is it in comparison to Live for Speed? I have yet to find a game that comes even close to Live for Speed's realism. A racing game with the realism of Live for Speed and the car list/visuals of Gran Turismo sounds like a dream to me.

Keep dreaming, because it is unlikely in our lifetime to find lfs's physics with GT graphics, unless the lfs team becomes larger then 3 people.

I don't think you'll ever see GT become like LFS. They claim its a 'realistic simulation' but thats a flat out lie really. Its just a halfway house between an arcade game like Ridge Racer or NFS and real simulations like LFS or the old Grand Prix games.

If the game was made too realistic it would just be too hard for most gamers, and games like LFS end up seeming crippled when you switch on all the aids you can get.

So finally got a date April 17 in USA for $40.

Will this have a single player campaign like GT4 does with oil changes, pit stops, car washes and lots of earning with upgrades stuff or is GT5P just a plain bunch of cars on a bunch of tracks game?

The closest we'll ever get to having a game remotely similar to LFS is games that come from SimBin with licenses: Race07, GTR 2, and they have that upcoming Ferrari Challenge for PC, that looks really good.

I'm referring to the overall physics and online competitiveness here. There's no game out there where you can have a lag-free online race with like 16+ people and have like the top 5+ all do Michael Schumacher-like laps (other than LFS).

That being said, it looks like I'll be buying a PS3 on April 17th. Can't pass up on NA release of GT5 Prologue.

"realism" is very subjective.

LFS has better physics but physics is not all there is to immersion. In LFS the ugly c*o*c*k*pit textures always remind me that I'm in a game. In GT5 Prologue demo sometimes it's nearly photorealistic.

In LFS you have no license fake cars. It's kind of like playing an NFL game with no-name players with same stats as real players. It hurts the immersion.

I don't have a clutch wheel so I can't comment on that aspect. I heard some complaints about gear shifting.

No damage model in GT5P demo. Maybe in GT5 full but who knows how good that will be?

And it's not either Simulator or Arcade. GT5 is a simulator it's just LFS is a better simulator physics wise but not graphically.

IMO GT5 P is more "realistic." Real cars, real tracks, and real graphics.

(GT5 P is the Crysis of racing games. A huge leap forward graphically. I'm shocked at how little aliasing I find.)
