The first machine i built was a Pentium Pro 200mhz, with a Diamond Monster 3d (voodoo) card and Aureal 3d sound.

That's the machine that really got me addicted to PC gaming. I used to just sit and watch the intro loop for Unreal thinking "it can't get any better than this!".

Brings back good memories.

I played Doom, Wolfenstein, Monkey Island, King Quest, Kyrandia, Krondor etc on that system. Good times.

My first Windows PC (although Windows 95 was really slow on this rig) was a 486 DX2/66 with 8 Mb RAM, a 40 Gb Hard Disk, Cirrus Logic 5428 SVGA card on VESA Local Bus slot (yay), a Sound Blaster AWE32 (later added a Gravis UltraSound ACE to the rig) and a 2x Mitsumi CD-ROM drive. I drooled with games like Doom, X-Wing, Prince of Persia, Magic Carpet... man I'm old.

But my first PC, DOS based, was an Amstrad PC 1512 with monochrome CGA graphics, 8 Mhz Intel 8086 CPU, 512 Kb RAM and dual 5'25" floppy drives. I finished Monkey Island on that rig, that game came in eight (8!!!) 5'25" floppy disks that I had to swap while gaming. This PC got one of the first Sound Blaster cards to get to Spain. Man... I'm really old!!!

S'alright for some, isn't it? My first gaming system sported barely a 40MB drive.

No, he said he had a 40Gb hard drive on a system from roughly 1992.

I was picking on his typo.
