I still prefer DOSBox for a lot of things just because its so convenient to be able to run it on my main PC. And with the latest versions and a damned fast CPU, a lot of pretty graphics heavy games from 1996-97 run perfectly smooth.

My nostalgia PCs (I have a P3 1Ghz\voodoo 5500 system too) are mostly just for the hardware and some specific games that worked really well on it.

I just love messing with old hardware.

My first PC? Well I got my first Persian Cat when I was 2. Mum got him for my birthday, he was jet black and a great kitty. He lived a long and happy life of a house cat. He died around 13 years old. He was survived by his owner me and his mentor, a hard arsed tortoise shell named Wilma. She lived to the rip old age of 20. I was strange being 18 and having a cat older than me around the house.

First gaming computer? In 2004-2007:

AMD Sempron 2200+ OC'd at 2.0
GeForce FX5500 128MB, then I got an FX5200 AGP 256MB
WD Caviar 80GB EIDE
Sound Blaster Live
2x256MB PNY PC2700 RAM
Biostar M7-VIG400 motherboard
Memorex DVD-ROM
Windows XP Home Edition OEM

All of that was in a black Aspire X-Cruiser case.

It was OK for it's days. I played any HL/HL2 games, SC, Diablo, Diablo II, Rune, C&C MoHAA, MoHPA, The Sims, and 007 Nightfire.

My first computer was crazy wack. I had it from 1997 to 2002:

64MB integrated Intel graphics and sound
Pentium II 420MHz
PC100 128MB
5.4GB Quantum Fireball HDD
3.5" Floppy
48x CD-ROM
17" Acer CRT

I played Combat Flight Simulator, Diablo, Diablo II, C&C, and anything else I was able to handle.

As you can see, I don't upgrade much. Those were just gaming computers. I did have a Dell Dimension 4600C from 2002 till now.

I don't want to get you drunk, but, ah, that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking.

Eventually upgraded to a 586 DX4-133, 32MB RAM, and added an S3 ViRge. LOL @ that rig. This pc came with AOL 1.0 (had to upgrade to 1.1 via dial up ) and Win3.1 (w/free upgrade to Win95 when it came out in October). Ah, old school...

From there it was downward slope of P75's, Celly 300a's, Diamond Monster 3d 4MB Voodoo add-ons, and my first SLI (back when it was Scan Line Interleaving): dual Guillemot 3D Voodoo2 12MB cards.

Back then, Yahoo was a big ass URL hosted on Stanford's servers.
I really loved those days alot.

I had hours of fun with janes longbow, mech, even motoracer that came with my voodoos.

SLI was so much different back in the day than it is now and done better actually.

If i had a chance to have a Pentium 266 with a pair off voodoo's and a sb128 6 gig drive. i would if i wasn't into todays games.

I loved doing Quake 2 on this rig also.

10 years is so long ago in this busness but not much in regular years.
