Okay, you must be alone in this.

Have you tried nvclock? After I got it to work for this driver I left the fan auto startup script in, for some reason it runs quieter than 169.09 anyways and the card stays cool.

Hi,
Same for me jus tgot an EN8600GT with 169.09 driver, and fan is always 100%, nvclock does not handle this card at the moment. Is the fan speed settable on this card ?

Unhappy Re: 169.07 Ubuntu 7.10 Fan at %100

Same here: 100% fan speed all of the time.

Driver: 169.09
Card: MSI NX8600GTS
Kernel: 2.6.24-gentoo
nvclock: "Error: adjustment of the fanspeed isn't supported on your type of videocard!"

Would very much appreciate it if this were fixed. Thanks!

I have no idea how the fanspeed adjustment works on 8600GT/GTS cards else support would have been in nvclock.

This is ridiculous.
I have 8400M GT with 169.09 driver, and fan is always 100%.
For some reason when I enter this page my cpu goes like 55% without compiz.
That's more thatn when I put 2 videos on youtube.

This is very annoying and makes me going back to VIsta.(that sucks)

I hope nvidia fix this soon, and this is not the only problem with this driver.

It seems that MSI uses their own fan controlling system called Dual Core Cell. So far I haven't seen any evidence that it is supported in Linux.

It may help to compile nvclock from source instead of installing the default binaries. Following this howto, I got my 8800gt working great on Debian.
