Thanks for the great work on nvclock, without it my computer will be unbearably loud with G92 GTS. I got your CVS version 2 days ago and just created a file in the Autostart folder for KDE with: nvclock -f -F 40. I don't know how to start the program with a GUI that I saw on your website.

I'm using OpenSuSE 10.3 x86-64.

1) I have heard about your problem before but haven't experienced it myself. I searched for "white screen of death" and got this from suseforums, try Joban's or Nickel's advice first. Also try the OpenSuSE wiki and do the one-click-install of Compiz Fusion, it won't hurt.

Make sure you have the nvidia drivers working first, type 'glxgears' in the konsole/terminal to see what framerate you get. I get 28000 fps on my desktop and 3000fps on a laptop with integrated Radeon x1150. Nvidia driver installation under SuSE is simple;

cd   to where the driver was downloaded (e.g. cd /home/YOUR.NAME/Desktop)  
su
init 3      (this closes your Gnome session, so be prepared with the rest of the instructions)   
sh NV  -q   (type the beginning of the driver file and press Tab to autocomplete)  If you have multiple files beginning with the same name, pressing Tab twice will give you a list
sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia

2) "Will 'nvclock help me reduce my fan speed?" I created a thread in Phoronix before stumbling on this thread. I've got some instructions on installing and setting up nvclock from cvs there. To autostart nvclock, open the Autostart folder (in KDE it's /home/YOUR.NAME/.kde/Autostart) and right click to create a link to application. Type a name for this link and put e.g. nvclock -f -F 40 as the Command. I don't know how it's done in Gnome, why use Gnome with OpenSuSE?

3) "When i boot the processor always shows almost 100% usage" This may be temporarily due to Beagle indexing your drive so that your searches later on will be quicker, it will stop in a few minutes. Beagle even searches within your PDF and OpenOffice files, Vista can't do that with Microsoft's own .doc format. How cool is that! I'm in Uni and use this function all the time to dig through my mountains of folders for important stuff.

Wow, that sounds a perfect solution. Anyone tested? I will ASA I get home. :-) Playing Icewind Dale in OpenGL mode with wine I had crash bug when quick saving. I want to give a try for the new driver.

The nvclock does not work for me with my nvidia 8800GT 512M on openSUSE 10.3 ;(
When I run nvclock, it just hangs there and does nothing.
I guess I'll just have to downgrade the drivers.

It sound like nvclock is not parsing your bios correctly. Could you send me ~/.nvclock/bios0.rom?

I have the same card but with Ubuntu 7.10 and nvclock hang too.

Yup NVClock hangs for me too now. Was fine a couple of days ago until I redownloaded the source from the CVS and now it hangs as well (doh why did I delete the old CVS download?)

BTW 8800 GT too. Here is the bios0.rom that was made on the previous working nvclock cvs build. The new one does not create a new .nvclock directory or generate a new bios0.rom. Even doing a nvclock -l results in a hang.
