Default EBgames declining quality

Has anyone noticed that this store isn't nearly as good as before? Now their policies are much more stingy and their employees are much more rude. It's like some stingy corner store now, where their merchandise are all too precious for you to touch.

Also, they no longer care about anything but money. A search on their website reveals that they don't carry anything other than the loudest and newest games. The most brainless like UT3.

Search for

Europa Universalis
Galactic Civilizations
Act of War

They have none of them, and they are not old and obscure!
Bestbuy has a better stock than they do now.

EBGames is pretty bad for PC Games, I remember the good old days where they had entire sections for PC Games... Bestbuy is pretty good for PC Games though, they typically have an entire isle full with them.

The EB here is nice, but as jAk said, they aren't good for PC anymore. The store here offers a $5 warranty on console games. An extra $5 and the disc is warranted against failure, even deliberate! For PC games, it's a no go. Also while I like the guys who work their, I'm sick of ordering the PC collectors and having them present me a 360 version on release day.

Yeah, I remember back in the late 90s when an entire 30 foot wall section was floor to ceiling PC games. The boxes were bigger then (though they were usually stacked sideways like books) but EB probably has 1\10th the amount of PC games now.

It definitely went down hill when they joined up with Game Stop. GS is extremely console oriented, where as EB's roots lie in PC games and accessories. At our local EB, the PC shelf shrank from an entire wall down to a single side of a shelf in the middle of the floor right around the time EB and GS merged.

I went there to buy FF Tactics for the PSP the day it came out. I had it on pre-order for about a month. I go in there, and I said that I'm here for my pre-order pickup.

He says they're sold out, they have one copy left, but an employee is using it, and should have it back in a day or two. Why the **** would I pay full price for a used game!?

I demanded my $5 back, then went to Wal-Mart and got it.

Exactly, I remember back in 2001 when I bought SWAT3 the guys were so helpful and competent. There was a wealth of PC titles in store, that I didn't even know which one I should get. Now even very popular games are not carried if they are over six months old.

It's pitiful that a "dedicated" game store is beaten by general department stores like BestBuy.

I see no reason now to go to EBgames, guys are unfriendly, store is small, many games aren't displayed on shelves (you have to ask them to get it at the back). And once I asked for a game that they had 2 copies of and the guy couldn't find it. And they NEVER have sales, unlike Bestbuy that has a lot of sales and discounts frequently.

All I can say, is that if ever a store went from the very best to pretty awful, that store would be EB.

I refuse to support EB or Gamestop. I buy nearly all my games from either GoGamer.com or Steam.

Apparently this is happening globally, not just in the US.

For some reason all their employees now are all young punks that doesn't know how to spell long words when you tell them the games' names and doesn't know a thing about their trade.

Thats cause young dumb ass kids accept lower pay and usually give it right back to the company through games.

These stores are in existence for the same reason the latest big budget movie game will always outsell Psychonauts. No one wants anything but their latest Sims expansion, Madden roster update, or the latest Guitar Hero rehash. When people want these games, who do they associate it with? Generally Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. If you're in a big American Sprawl Mall you think Gamestop or EB.

Not to mention their BS exchange policies.
