Default 169.07 Drivers cause strange resolutions in full screen apps

I don't know whats going on but on my 8800gts ( and only on that card, with the 7800gs's, everything works fine), some fullscreen apps do not fill the screen, they appear at higher resolutions. For example, apricots( an sdl app) a game I have installed in gentoo, does not fill the screen. It shows up probably one or two resolutions higher. Some videos in mplayer do not show up full screen when switched to full screen mode. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have them as well ,more of a show stopper on mine.
I have a 6200 ,when I full screen something it says "Analog input Cannot display this video mode".
I tried to reinstall the driver and let it rewrite my xorg (from the sax made ver) that didn't help either.
You aren't using analog connectors too ,by any chance?
Dropping back to 100.14.19 ,that one works fine.

I'm not sure what you mean by analog connectors but I use a crt monitor and have the monitor connected through the adaptor.

XRandR now seems to be slightly broken in the 169.07 driver, even with DynamicTwinView off. With 169.04, all modes are reported correctly, but with 169.07 I get some awkward refresh rates reported on lower-resolution modes. I'm fairly confident this would result in the problem billydv is experiencing. The application might be picking the wrong mode, or the driver might not be switching to the mode properly because of the wrong timings.

1- The adaptor I am using is dvi to vga because the cable from my monitor has a vga connector.

2- I experienced the very same thing with the .04 drivers.
