Default Re: Bioshock wins GOTY and best FPS for PC?!

Bioshock had a great story especially when compared to most FPS games.

At the end the story was especially great. I don't want to give out any spoilers but if you played it you know the cool twist at the end.

I wasn't really sure who I should trust. It was great.

The knock on Bioshock is no multiplayer so it's just forgotten.

I would give PC GOTY to Crysis because it's such a technial achievement. But it's hard to give GOTY to game that got 3/5 stars on X-Play. And I must admit the second half of Crysis is pretty weak.

COD4 is too short but the multiplayer probably makes it the best purchase of the year.

But IMO GOTY should clearly be Mass Effect. In terms of innovation, detail, and entertainment value it's by far GOTY. It's a crime if it doesn't get recognized.

Idd and i think Epic should visit bioware for some pointers,Mass effect is the most visually impressive UE3 engined game sofar and both GoW and UT3 pales in comparison.

While Bioshock may not be everyones choice, do not assume they were bought off. Bioshock succeeded where most FPS do not. It presented a fantastic storyline in a completely original environment with some of the best art direction and atmosphere around. To some, that is why it made GOTY.

I agree.

Bioshock has so much qualities that most fps games doesn't. It does have some small flaws but not enough to prevent from getting GOTY award because most are fixed. Some people's just pissed and come up with lame excuses without proofs like 2K paid load of $$$ to have Bioshock become GOTY.

crysis just hasn't had quite long enough to "settle" in for major review sites yet - they usually like waiting to see how the games do in the long run. Even though COD4 was released around the same time as crysis, it's a major game and sold a ton in a short time as opposed to crysis which has much lower sales (in the US anyways).
I enjoyed both crysis and bioshock, but I think that just like bioshock the craze for crysis will die down (at least until the "sequel").

I got the 411 on the upcoming crysis sequel

- Tweaked graphics engine CryEngine 2.5

- Thanks to tweaked engine, reasons to give hardware vendors an upgrade since game will run like ass on current hardware

- Like both previous games (farcry, crysis) game will have a strong start, a weak middle, and well-known, sh*t ass ending

- First patch will be delayed

i actually really liked bioshock, it was quite satisfying and enjoyable. COD4 is just a completely different atmosphere. For myself personally, the Bioshock "feel" is better to play with then COD4 feel.

While it wasn't the game of the year for me personally(it's number 4 or 5 on my list), I can certainly see why it is winning so many accolades. I've played it twice over and enjoyed every bit of it. Now can I say that about other shooters this year? 'fraid not. MOH:A, Lost Planet, Crysis, and COD4 were all good/great shooters in their own right. But somewhere along the line, either after I completed the game and in some case just lost interest entirely, they got boring.

Both gow and ut3 would have been frustrating to play with the sluggish performance that mass effect offers though.

I actually wish that bioware would have toned down things and settled for a smooth 30fps instead of the wildly fluctuating fps that mass effect offers.

I'm glad Crysis didn't win anything other than best graphics. The game overall sucked.

Bioshock was a killer game, i really enjoyed it.

Awesome story, good graphics, and the weapons were sweet as ****.

But i dont think it should be the GOTY.

BioShock was GOTY IMO too. Crysis is close though.
