Default Anyone else feel Team Fortress 2 is headed in the wrong direction?

Upon release and in beta, Team Fortress 2 has been one of the most fun FPS games I have played in a LONG time. The classes might not have been perfectly balanced, but they were good enough.

Now it seems that with all the changes, the game is starting to heavily learn towards specific classes to the point where the game is not even that fun anymore. Sure we can all use the "overpowered" classes, but what fun is that?

Just seeing if its just me thats noticing or if anyone else has. I wish they would just revert the game back to day one of release date....

I think everything is going great for TF2. The only problem I have is the 20 second respawn timer (too long; I wanna play, not watch the game) and the soldier's rocket damage (way too powerful IMO). The only servers I play on are instant respawn servers.

I think the game is going in the right direction. Initially, I only wanted to play heavy and soldier (and my stats reflect that), but after the last few patches, I find myself branching out more and more.

I do wish the respawn timer was 10 to 15 seconds. 20 is too long, and instant makes some maps impossible to win.

LOL

Not to toot my horn, but I'm one of the best TF2 players on this forum. I think I've proven to you MagNuS of my greatness.

I don't think soldiers are overpowered really. Demoman and Pyro(after the patch) are my biggest complaints. To a point I have a gripe with Spys and Medics. But they are nowhere near as bad as the Demoman/Pyro problem imo.

So, I'm going to pick up TF2 later on this week and try it out. I'm thinking of going for the Demoman or Pyro. What server are u on Tyger?

Hehe. Demoman and Pyro are classes to play if you want to be bored out of your mind and only care about score. I like to have fun myself

I think the game is pretty well balanced.

My only complaint is that the soldier is incredibly easy to play as long as you have some sense of timing or some experience at first person shooters.

The other classes tend to lean toward certain tactics to do well, where as the soldier basically just has to fire at the ground when fighting up close, or fire randomly down hall ways.

The rocket hit boxes are enormous, and the splash damage is really high so sending three rockets down a hallway or doorway will pretty much eradicate everything in the vicinity instantaneously. No class can come close to the sheer amount of damage a soldier can do at any range. The recorded stats that were released a few weeks ago prove that.

I rarely play soldier but I'm always number 1 or 2 on a server when I choose the class. Pyro is my main class because I completely hate spies and I can usually eliminate them with pyro, where other classes are powerless. Plus, its completely hilarious catching people on fire and then finishing them off with the shotgun or axe. He's my favorite character too. I love that big stupid rubber bag suit he's wearing, and the voices.

Pyro is obviously worthless at a distance though so I'll use a sniper if there are some distant targets that are causing problems.

I also like to switch to the scout if it looks like the enemy has weak defenses. Their ability to move in quickly and hit pretty hard work great for eliminating annoying snipers or even sentries.

I'll go to demo if the situation calls for it. For example, a sentry needs taken out, or enemies are fortifying a hard to reach area. It's also pretty fun to launch some long range sticky bombs at the snipers on 2fort. Apparently not many people know you can charge that weapon up.

EDIT: One other thing that bugs me is the "20 foot melee attack" thing that happens when there is a little bit of lag. It usually happens with spies and snipers. I'll be shooting them, then they run at me and start swinging their melee weapon. From 15-20 feet away, they kill me.

It's most irritating with the spy because he can one-hit kill so easily.

I think it's fine. They definitely need more time to get the classes perfectly balanced but it's pretty good so far.

PS: Pyro+Demoman
