Okay so my xbox 360 premium manufactured in 10/2005 finally kicked the bucket and I am in the market for a new one. It is non-eligible for warranty due to having modifications.
About 3 months ago I upgraded from the 20GB harddrive to the 120GB harddrive and transfered all my content over. My question is if I purchase a 360 Xbox Elite given its proivded with a 120GB harddrive, can I transfer the content from my current 120GB to the new Elite 120GB harddrive??? Has anyone ever tried this or know a way around transfering the data over? I know I can just physically swap the drives out but I want to use the new Elite harddrive for warranty purposes. Any advice appreciated. BTW Happy New Years! ![]()

Just swap hard drives...the whole thing. I don't think disconnecting your hard drive voids the warranty. They're meant to be detachable.

Thanks for the advice. I can just do that but the colors would differ as my current harddrive is grey, defeating the purpose of havingan all black (or charcoal grey) xbox elite
![]() Also I've heard that if some of your XBL arcade downloads licenses are tied to the xbox they were initially purchased with. If I transfer my harddrive over, would I loose use of my XBL arcade games since it'll be with a new system?

If you already have a 120GB harddisk, the leftover wireless controllers from the premium and the cables, why don't you go for a Core unit ?
They now come with HDMI too, if that's what you are afraid of missing. As for the color, a good paintjob will do fine (although it will void the varranty). But if you have already modded your first unit, you are surely not afraid of that ![]()

i was about to say, since you modified your original xbox, why not just get the arcade version (former core version), cooler and more power efficient and hdmi, if you already have the 120gb drive, the only purpose in the elite would be for the black color, you wouldn't gain anything else.

I'll just end up going with another xbox 360 Premium due to getting another wireless controller, 20GB harddrive which I will sell to a friend for $50 and forza/ultimate alliance so the difference makes up for getting this deal over the arcade model
