The 1.0 and 1.1 version were horrible with constant crashes and the whole corrupted savegames mess but with 1.2 (and currently 1.21) it was so much more stable, not a single crash during the whole campaign plus the game runs noticlable faster with the newer drivers compared to the old ones during the summer.

I can highly recommend the reduced grip mod because the cars in the game tend to have a little unrealistic levels of grip.

So no one here has those horrible stuttering problems in this game?

I had it on my Athlon X2 system, but it appears to be gone on my Core 2 system. My brother still has it on his X2 system though (2.4Ghz X2, 2GB DDR500, 8800GTX, Vista x64, XP32 and xplosion sound card).

Basically, the framerate shoots up and down dramatically (10-40fps up and down) and stutters. Its related to sound somehow. When he disables his sound card the game runs smooth. The demo did the same thing on my old system using an X-Fi too.

We've looked everywhere for a fix but there really isn't much that can be done.

Runs perfect here with an X-FI extreme gamer.

I don't get a lot of grip on the switchbacks going up Pike's Peak at high speeds.

Ran well @ 1600x1200 on my setup @ max w/4x MSAA. I think the only track with unplayable performance was the Tokyo figure 8 for some reason. It dropped to around 15.

I have noticed some rare stuttering that looked to be related to CPU/AI activity. When 4 or more AI cars were going really close (with contact) into a corner, the framerate took a dive for a second or two. It happened maybe in 4 races once but thankfully the slowdown/stutter didn't cause a lot of input lag.

First time I played it (x1900 xt, 4600+ X2) I was within a nights play of finishing, then the retarded piece of crap decided to just annihilate my save games. I couldn't play it any more, you know how it is... You go through all of your own experiences, your 'Just barely' moments and your incredible (funny?) replays and whatnot.. It's its entire own experience, and losing my saves before I could finish absolutely ruined it all for me.

I eventually (as of about 2 weeks ago) finally worked up the care to start it all over again (2900xt Crossfire, Q6600 @ 3.51ghz). Only to find that this once more retarded piece of crap now refuses to work with Crossfire enabled (tried every driver in existence that supports it in Crossfire, it aint working). So I give up, stupid game.
