Mine still works, I got it back the spring of '06. I hardly ever use it though. I've played through Gears of War, Halo 3, Guitar Hero 2&3 about once each, and Mass Effect 1.5 times. I'm guessing the relatively infrequent use is what has extended its lifespan.

Xbox 360 does not die. I bet you wrap your Xbox 360 in a wet scolding hot towel before you play it.

Microsoft should make a commercial for the 360 with this as their theme song.

Maybe the most defective consumer electronics device ever. You don't have to be a mathematician to figure out that when you hear so many stories of people who had 3 or even 5 360's die then you're dealing with a damn near 100% failure rate. It's only a matter of time.

It's not an exaggeration to say that hardware wise (at least the 2005 version) it's a piece of junk.

But the games are good and Xbox Live is great.

I can likewise assure you that in 50 to 100 years, every single Wii will be broken too. You don't need to be a mathematician to figure that out.

Well, I'm amazed it lasted a whole 18 months, and it had been manufactured 2 years ago. Thankfully I had it warrantied at best buy, and I just had it swapped out for a new one.

So who has an 05/early 06 model that still works?
Bought one on launch day dated 10/2005 that died less than two months later on a cold day.

My replacement unit has been manufactured in January 2006 and as soon as I got it, I added a Nyko cooler. It's still working. In one month the warranty will expire so I'm going to do some intensive modding to keep it alive at least another year, when the revised 65nm unit will arrive.
