Default 169.07 - Second monitor is not displaying title bar for all windows

Bug report is attached but here are the particulars:

MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa) with GeForce 8600M GT
Ubuntu 7.10
External monitor: Dell 3007WFP HC
X Configuration: Separate X screen.

The windows on the internal MacBook Pro display are fine. The windows on the Dell, however, are all missing both the title bar (the part with the minimize-maximize-close buttons) and the frame that allows you to resize a window with the mouse.

I originally had this problem on the internal monitor; it was fixed by changing the depth from 16 to 24 in xorg.conf. The depth for the external monitor is already set to 24 and there are no errors in Xorg.0.log that indicate any problems.

Thanks for any help.

I found a work-around by turning off all visual effects (System/Preferences/Appearance/Visual Effects). That's good enough for me.

Yeah, I ran into the same problem yesterday. This looks like a bug in Ubuntu.

This is probably that the window manager is only managing one screen. Try using twinview or xinerama to allow both screens to be controlled with one window manager

You need one window decorator per screen. Try running
Code:
DISPLAY=:0.1 kde-window-decorator &
(or gtk-window-decorator or emerald, whichever you're using) from a terminal. compiz-manager should be fixed so it uses Compiz' infrastructure for doing this task automatically.
