i have a msi g4mx420 64mb ddr card plugged into a via based mobo and it doesn't get on well with mandrake 8.1 or 9. i lose cursor movement and it gets recognized as generic g2 instead of g4. i cant use 1024x768 res or hardware acceleration with it. any clues?

well i got the mouse cursor control back by uncommenting the software cursor option in my xf86 config file but theres still a blue line about 3 millimetres wide which runs down the left side of the screen. clock rates or other resolution probs, perhaps? will it help if i install the nv drivers (using drivers supplied with the distro at the mo')? |
