Default Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay?

I've heard much praise for this game, but:

I've had this game laying on my shelf for about 2+ years now. I installed it twice and all I remember is getting bored of "talk to this guy, talk to that guy, walk back and forth and do those little boxing matches". Does it get better than that? I mean I was a few hours in and there was hardly any action or anything.

Does it just take a long time to get going or is it more of an RPG'ish game like it appears from what I played of it?

it turns into a stealth hit and run game. Hiding in vents and killing. But yea the action pics up

there are spots of action, but it also reverts back to talk to this guy, walk here like the start in a few spots. I think its rather overrated (still a good game though, and the best movie based game)

I think the talking parts were what set it apart from other shooters.

To me it'd just be another mediocre shooter without that stuff. As it is, its one of my favorite shooters ever. Hard to believe its an original Xbox port.

Major claim is it's actually better than the movie.

It's a great game. The action does pick up in the end. Especially for the PC version where you get to pilot more mechs.

Yeah the movie was very corny. The game takes place before all 3 of the riddick movies (pitch black, Dark Fury and Chronicles of Riddick).

They went too far with all the sci-fi and magic crap in the CoR movie. It completely ruined the believable cyber-punk-like setting of the game and Pitch Black and turned it into a mix between Star Wars and The Lord of The Rings (without any of the good writing or characters).

Could have been much better.

I thought the Chronicles movie was rubbish and nowhere near as good as Pitch Black, however the game was surprisingly great.

It has a lot more depth and variety than your typical action movie tie-in game, but it also has some fun blasting such as the Mech section. The prison setting was very atmospheric too.
