Default GeForce2 MX/MX 400 not working in openSUSE 10.3

Hi,
I am using a PC with a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 without problems in openSUSE 10.2. After upgrading to 10.3 (with a new NVIDIA driver) I can't use the nvidia module any more. I had to change to the nv module without 3d acceleration.
I can't find any error messages but my desktop is nearly unreadable because everything is displayed in green only. It looks like connected to an old green monochrome monitor. I am using kernel 2.6.22.13-0.3-default and driver nvidia-gfx-kmp-default-1.0.9639_2.6.22.13_0.3-0.1.i586.rpm and x11-video-nvidia-1.0.9639-0.1.i586.rpm. Unfortunately I don't know the version of the working driver anymore.
Thanks for help.

Did you check the supported cards for that driver? Maybe you need to use the older legacy driver version for very old cards.
(besides, when you have ancient hardware it is usually not a good idea to keep updating Linux distribution. the newer versions will become slower and slower due to all the added crap. I am using openSuSE 10.3 as well, just upgraded from SuSE 10.0 and it has become slower again...)

The same happens if I compile the kernel module with the shell script (*.run) instead of installing the rpm. The script checks for supported modules. I don't know if the error is caused by the new kernel or new NVIDIA driver.
