It's the same thing. Betamax was superior in all aspects except capacity. History has repeated itself.

looks like Sony learned this time around.

but... triple layer HD-DVD's have the same capacity as dual layer BD's, so what's the capacity argument?

What I don't understand is that if this is true, then why didn't HD DVD market a bit more? Blu Ray is shoved down your throat every few minutes of the day if you watch HD programming. HD DVD? Psst. I rarely ever see it.

And I do agree, HD DVD format is superior in so much more ways.

Hey... it was HD-DVD fanboys main talking point, along with cheapness, and features... all of those sure did add up to winning the war.

hunt is the biggest fanboy on planet Earth. The "HD-DUD" comment shows he comes from blu-ray.com, shill central and full of queer 13 year old PS3 fanbots.

HD-DVD didn't do a lot of marketing. And I agree with tygerwoody, if you watch HD progamming, you will see tons of Blu-Ray commercials. "The future is Blu" . . . Well, they might be right.

Nobody accused Toshiba of knowing how to market a product, that's for sure. They don't have the hype/shill/lie machine that Sony does.

Yup... Blame evil Sony for knowing how to market and win.

How dare Sony actually try to win?!

Does Sony do no wrong in your eyes? How are you so heavily invested in them emotionally?

I thought you were a "movie fan"? You should be embarassed that your intellect is low enough to swallow their load.

Besides, Sony hasn't won anything. 99:1 DVD:HDM.
