This is a bad for the consumer now though. Sony can charge whatever they want to, since there wont be any competition.

Electronic Express had the Samsung BR player for $200 right before Black Friday last year. I really hope that if HD-DVD goes under, companies won't get ****y and jack up the prices of standalone players. They need to come down to $200 range for me to purchase one.

WB confirmed that their announcement doesn't affect New Lines and HBO so... maybe they'll decide to go Blu-ray some time soon.
