Do you really think Microsoft is in trouble? Have you SEEN Sony's financials? Microsoft's? You just exposed a great deal of ignorance. The fORMAT wAR isn't a measure of the respective companies health. You are also ignorantly assuming HDM will succeed period. 1%, say it out loud. ONE PERCENT.

DO you understand now that the fORATM WATSZZZ!!! is irrelevant to Sony's business health yet? I ask YOU.... how can you possibly spin the above? Sony, as a Company, is in deep ****. Any analyst will tell you the same. Your emotional PS3 attachment just won't let you believe it though. You need to look at the WHOLE PICTURE, not a miopic view of HD media which is irrelvant in said picture. Toshiba and Sony's war was about pride.

Man, I love HD-DVD but they just need to concede as soon as possible atleast for the sake of consumers.

I don't really think Microsoft cares so much. If they did they would have smoked Sony's $500mil payment to WB. A Cash war is something Sony could not possibly even dream of starting with Microsoft.

Of course Gaco seems to think Microsoft hedged the whole company on HD DVD, lol.

I'm not sure MS has as much riding on HD-DVD as toshiba. There's a reason why there's no built in HD-DVD player in the 360. MS tested the field with the add-on drive, but more than likely they'll be rolling out a blu-ray add-on within the foreseeable future.

lots of people will have bought a new hdtv this Christmas and will be annoyed at the chunky output of their dvd player, Probably all just buy an upscaler though.

is the 360 Ultimate not confirmed then by the way?

Didn't MS make and develop VC1, then sony started using it? I wish I understood as much as Chris did on this subject but I still can't swallow the fact that a cheaper player and formate is loosing to a more expensive formate. Either the public is so dumb or I am dumber and don't see it.

Who wants to buy into a format that has very few great movies released when you can spend a little more to get a format that has 95% of the blockbusters? Only us true movie fans.... but we just want HD.

Well I think if both formates had HDDVD and BR support from the beginning it would be a different story all together.

Microsoft supported HD-DVD first and foremost because they didn't want to support the use of Java in any form.

As for the 360 ultimate by Toshiba, it has been announced, but makes no mention of a included hi-def dvd player.
