Default I Plan on purchasing a PS3

I've had a 360 since the day of its release. But I sold it a while ago to get back into PC gaming. Now I want to go back into consoles (while still PC gaming of course), but i've been out of it for so long that I don't know whats going on in the console world these days.

I'm looking to just get one console, because multiple systems will just take up too much time and money. So, i've been leaning towards the PS3 primarily because of blu-ray.

But if I remember correctly, PS3 had **** for games. And just taking a quick glance at current titles, Uncharted seems to be the only thing worth while. So, my question is will there be any exclusive upcoming PS3 games that will be worthwhile? Any games PS3 fans are looking forward to? Will there be God Of War 3 for PS3?

The PS3 is an ok console, but there are NO GOOD GAMES. PS3 sales will probably pick up soon since Warner Bros dropped off the HD-DVD bandwagon. Make sure there are plenty of good games for the PS3 that YOU want before you make the purchase.

I would personally wait until there are some solid exclusive titles available. You might even get it for cheaper then $399 by then.

Yeah, the Warner bombshell is what compelled to consider purchasing a PS3. Already got 6 HD-DVDs with no player.

Only good exclusive game I've seen so far are GT: prologue..and GoW3 if it is coming out.

I wouldn't say the are NO GOOD GAMES on PS3. There are plenty, just most are also on 360. Uncharted is probably the best exclusive right now, also there is Motorstorm and Resistence. They are great fun. Heavenly Sword is great if you like GoW and an epic story with awesome acting, it's a little short though.

The system itself is great. Menu is a little daunting at first, but the build quality is fantastic and it's dead quiet, even when playing a Blu-ray movie.

Great. Two things I hated about the 360 was the heat and fan/disc read noise.

One thing I don't like about the PS3 is the graphics seem to be inferior with most multi-platform games especially EA sports games. Maybe that will change for 2009 series.

Hopefully as Sony work on their dev kits more and as developers gain more experience.

It also does a decent job of upscaling PS2 games and DVDs. So that's a bonus. Problem is I don't think you can get the 60gb PS3s anymore. ::

Is there a limitation with the new 40gb/80gb in terms of backwards compatibility and upscaling?

The 40gb wont play PS2 games at all. I dunno about the 80gb. We don't get that one. All PAL regions now only get the 40gb PS3. I was lucky enough to get a 60gb. Interestingly though. I bought mine a good several months after the release, but my PS3 was part of the EBs first batch.

It's changed now though. They are selling more PS3s than Wiis and the PS3 section is bigger than the Wii section. The 360 still takes up most of the store though. ::

Well, I just realized I have a ps2 back home in the US.

Can you add an external HDD through the USB like with the 360?

Yes, and with the PS3 you can copy almost anything over to it except demos. Movies are fine, MP3s are fine. Unlike the 360 where they are pretty much all stuck with DRM etc.

I also find the front card readers are great. We come home after a trip and go through the slideshow on the PS3 on a big screen and pick and choose the pictures we want to keep.

Man that's great. And I just saw that the 40gb version has built in wireless. Looks like ill be getting a ps3.

Actually, one other thing I dislike about the PS3 is its controller. I can't stand it. It feels so cheap and small. Is there any third party controllers that are similar to the 360 controller?
