i have a nvidia quadro nvs140m in a thinkpad R61i (8918-CJG) on gentoo linux with 2.6.23-r3 kernel
i'm using nvidia-drivers-100.14.19 and I am experiencing random crashes when running 3d apps i first noticed it on googleearth, it seems to work fine for a couple of minutes, but then it locks up, and the system becomes unresponsive for almost anything. Usually pressing the on/off button triggers the shutdown. in /var/log/messages i get: Code:

I also updated the bios, and no changes. It's also interesting that if i downclock the gpu (using coolbits in the .conf and nvidia-settings) to half the frequency, it gets more stable (almost impossible to crash). Thermal monitor shows 53˚c, but since applications cause crashes immediately when they start, (i guess) it's not an overheating problem. If anyone has any experience with that, please help. thanks |

Did you test with the latest driver?
I don't experience any crashes. |

interestingly enough, i never noticed gentoo didnt have 169* versions included
i'll write en ebuild for it, and I will report if the crashes continue (since it's hard to predict when it will happen) |
