Default My 3DMark05 sumary PLEASE HELP

Hi,

I am pretty new to messing around with the hardware in my Pc and recently bought a INNO3D NVIDIA 8800 GTS 512MB OVER CLOCK 256Bit GDDR3 Core Frequency 700/2000Mhz.

Anyway I ran 3DMark05 and got the attached result which I think is well below what the card should be performing at?

any ideas what would be the biggest bottle neck ATM?

ps, I have 1.5 gig of ddr400 ram :{ with a ASUS P5GPL mother board.

thanks in advance...

SPECS AND 3DMark05 SUMMARY ARE BELOW.

I'm not touching that attachment file.

Post your computer specs and the score you get, and we'll tell you how you can improve it.

The Pentium 4, no doubt.

would it be the reason for the poor 3dMark05 sore? I ran Crisis the other day with the nVidia monitoring tool open on the other screen and the processor never seemed to be stressed.

I also ran the nVidia stability test and it would always fail to finish if I selected pic-E to be tested. all others like cpu, gpu, memory etc ran through...

Any other comments? I don't want to go out a purchase a new mother board, ram and CPU if I don't have to.

The pentium 4 is definitely holding you back big time. I used to have a 2.8Ghz P4 system, and the difference in both 3dmark05 and 06 are night and day. The Core 2's can handle soooo much more than the P4's.

You're going to have to upgrade your motherboard and memory if you get a Core 2 Duo. Your current motherboard only supports Pentium 4's. The video card is great (obviously). Just for reference, look at my 3dmark05 score. It's over 20,000 fully optimized (and overclocked). a good Core 2 duo and 8800 GTS 512mb will probably get around 15,000 without breaking too much of a sweat. The 8800 GTX is not that much more powerful than an 8800 GTS 512mb either. Your processor is a HUGE bottleneck to your video card.

If you have about $300-$400 to shell out on a new processor, motherboard, and ram, I'm pretty sure we can get you a nice deal from newegg.

Thanks mate, I hope it goes well too. I needed to upgrade anyway, not just for games. I am a developer and VS 2005 runs like sh*t when running SQL Server etc...

thanks again for both your help, will post results when I can. Ps, should I be using 3DMark06 instead of 3DMark05????

Stupid questions, I know...

They're both fairly taxing. One of the main differences is that 3dmark06 factors in CPU scores into its 3dmark score. 3dmark05 simply takes the 3d score, and makes a separate CPU score (which you don't even have to do).

3dmark06 is more of a test of your overall system
3dmark05 is a test of your video card, even though processor does affect that as well.
