Performance seems smoother for me in XP. I didn't test anything, just going by feel. It felt sluggish before, or like there was some kind of mouse lag, but now it feels more responsive. Not sure if the FPS went up, but something is different.

However, I did notice on one of the earlier night missions in the jungle (after that dude gets frozen solid), I was getting wierd random flashes on the trees, like a branch in the distance would flash white briefly. It was very random and I didn't see it during the day. I thought it was lightning at first or something, lol. I don't remember seeing that before. I basically played that section of the game before and reloaded that save game, playing up to the part with the two guys with the same suit as you then on to the part with the AA guns in the bay/harbor, where it's daylight again. I don't remember seeing those flashes.

Running 169.21 in XP Pro.

Quick test right before and right after applying the 1.1 patch:

Before 1.1:
CPU: 15.2, 24.7, 29.6
GPU: 9.7, 27.0, 31.7

After 1.1:
CPU: 3.8, 22.8, 29.2
CPU2 (new): 5.9, 15.3, 20.3
GPU: 9.7, 27.0, 31.0

The benchmark results are not really improved here, tho I did not play yet (actually I have no complaints about how the game ran without the patch)

XP32bit 1680x1050 Q6600 2GB memory no OC. 8800GTS 512MB with 169.21 drivers
No AA, modified cfg files and a couple lines in system.cfg

Was the first or second patch of crysis supposed to improve performance?

The Patch is Wonderful...

Lets get 100 more that offer the same performance upgrade.

My average is only up about 1 FPS

1920X1200 0AA/4XAF - GeForce 8800GTX - SLI
Custom VERY HIGH Tweak - XP
Running 169.28 in XP Pro.

But... My Min FPS is up alot. ~10 FPS

Min FPS in GPU Test is now 28.9 FPS

And I can now play the final level with boss very smooth, and not looking like a slide Show.

Were people really expecting this patch to make all performance complaints go away? I think it depends on the map whether or not there are performance improvements. The first few levels had ok performance to begin with and they seem about the same. The last level seems a lot better now. I want to check if they fixed the performance issues in the mine level. It had some issues for me when there were falling rocks and the rumbling noise. The game would run really choppy when that would happen. I believe an even bigger patch is supposed to come out sometime later and this was a minor patch comparatively.

I tried 169.28 and it fixed the lag i was having for the most part. Still i run this game in window mode 1024*768 AA2x everything very high and it's very playable.

seems to be running a bit smoother for me with the patch. Haven't done any benchmarks or anything, but it definitely feels a bit better. I guess i'll have to keep playing and see if it stays that way into the later, more intensive, levels.

DX9 in Vista64. 1280*1024, all on high except for shadows and motion blur on medium.

Grrrr...I tried to install the patch, and when it came to the point of asking for the DVD, it did not know where to locate the DVD.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Performance was pretty good under XP before the patch (last set of results in the following graph).

I'm planning to give the patch a go this weekend and will report back.

neither the patch nor these rebadged ut3 drivers do anything to improve performance under single card or sli configurations
