edit: it's $699 at Dell right now. They go on sale occasionally for $599.

All TN based panels are horrible, but they're cheap. They have bad viewing angels, bad color reproduction, muddied black levels, and very FAST response times. If you are going to do mostly gaming and are on a very tight budget (or if you're not super picky) a TN is fine. But I can't recommend a TN panel otherwise. There is a superb thread over at Anandtech that covers LCDs, I suggest you look there.
