Just installed openSUSE 10.3 on a Dell Precision 390 with a Quadro FX 550 running Xorg 7.2.0. The system boots fine and the text console displays correctly. Starting up X works fine. Switching back to the text console either with ctrl-alt-F1 or by exiting X results in a garbled text console display, it looks like alternate scan lines are offset. Switching back into X the display is ok. I've attached the nvidia-bug-report.log file.

I can confirm the issue cruff is seeing.
My system boots up (kernel 2.6.23.1) to the VT1 console, the font/screen is fine. I login and change to run-level 5, which starts Xdm (kdm) and I get the beta logo. I'm runnig 169.07 too, it didn't happen with the previous module/driver. All is well, until I "chvt 1" back to the vt1 console. The console now appears with double spacing between lines and in this extra space is a half-height copy of the row above -- basically the console has doubled vertically with ghosting. The screen corruption makes it an eyesore to read, and the cursor appear off screen. Definitely a bug so some sort; fortunately a minor annoyance. |

I am experiencing a very similar issue if not the same. Also noticed that closing the lid will also make this issue appear in X. Otherwise I can only notice it when closing X or switching to a VT.

This problem still exists in 169.09. Also, if the X server is not configured for TwinView mode, the screen that the X server does not touch does not have the garbled text problem when switching back to the text console.

I can confirm this issue has been fixed with 169.09 on my aging 256MB GeForce 6800GT PCIe 16X.
