Screw PSP, this thing should be called POS.
I bought a slim, unknowing that the only way to get homebrew (let's be honest, look at psp's library of game's, homebrew is it's saving grace) is through a pandora's battery. I'm not a hand-held enthusiast enough to pay for another battery online from some nimrod charging an arm and a leg and I don't feel like trying it myself and more than likely bricking my system. So, I decided to see what games the system has to offer, a local trip to gamestop revealed...well....not much. I bought nfl street 3 and virtua tennis 3....they both suck. Virtua Tennis for psp was great, part 3 is all off. NFL street 3 is garbage as well Part 2 was fantastic, but this version forces you to be a scrub team that's not even in the NFL before you can take on player's, I hate the set-up. I did put $5 on god of war, which got me a demo of the game now and I must say, the demo was awesome. Impressive from every aspect, gameplay, music, graphics, it all meshed excellently. Reminded me of the ps2 version, which is not a bad thing at all. .I also reserved Crisis Core FF7, which like God of War, comes out in March. So ....either a.) this system collects a nice layer of dust until March, or b.) I figure out what I can do, with my limited slim. I have pre-installed, factory shipped, firmware 3.71 .... Does anyone know of any games, apps, utilities of ANY kind that DO NOT require custom firmware or downgrading? Anyone know of any decent psp sites that have a good selection of pspmags? Anything else you guy's may have done or tried that help make this thing more fun on the road would be appreciated. I want to like this little device, it s feature - rich, very impressive. But damn...the minute I found out ff7 won't be a possibility without a pandora's battery...my opinion of this system has been decreasing rapidly. HELP. =) |

PSP=good hardware, bad software library.
I've bought a couple of titles for it but I enjoy my PSP more as a media player and retro emulator than in its true role as console. Find someone who can unlock your PSP; you won't regret it. ![]()

If it had a standard 4:3 res like 320x240 and like 4 times as much memory it would have been more flexible and more useful, but they didn't intend it for this so its not really their fault. If the PSP had a touch screen and wasn't such a pain in the ass to get working with homebrew (if your version even supports it) i'd have probably gotten one of those instead. Most of the games on these things don't really interest me that much. I bought my DS almost specifically for homebrew (though Brain Age, Trace Memory and Glory Days 2 are pretty cool).

I think the PSP is the best handheld ever made. I use it for everything especially to play my music and movies because I can just drag and drop without any damn hassles like on the Ipod and Zune. Also surf the web on it and play my favorite SNES and Neo-Geo and Capcom arcade games. Arcade perfect Samurai Showdown and Street Fighter Alpha on the go for the win.
![]() Also there is rumor DivX support is coming in the next update which i think will then make it the ultimate music and video player. |
