I find their "lowest common PC denominator" crap it's just a cheap excuse so Micro$oft can pay them big $$$ for making it only-Vista compatible.Aren't there computers using Vista that are maximum crap? i.e a P4 3.0 Ghz with a Nvidia 7300 with Vista slugging as hell isn't considered "low"?

Take it with a grain, Inq news.
Quote:
ALAN WAKE is due to go back to sleep until 2009, with Microsoft apparently resigning itself to the delay.

Due to be released in 2008 on the Xbox and PC, Alan Wake was supposed to be a mystery story about a guy who wakes up with no memory and lives in a ghost town, etc, etc, etc. More interesting was the fact it was from Remedy, the chaps behind Max Payne, and who are supposedly going to base the game on a version of the 3DMark engine, with all the spectacular graphics that that entails.

The game was scheduled for its first major outing at GDC this year, which it missed - and there is no sign of it this week at Microsoft's Gamers Day in San Francisco, the Vole's showcase for its top 2008 titles.

For his part, Microsoft's Xbox man Shane Kim said that, "We're managing that project with Remedy very carefully... Alan Wake is pretty ambitious. It's taking a very different approach to both story-telling and gameplay." Which we suspect is code for 'it doesn't really work yet'.

Gamers eager for a taste of the anticipated game have little to do except go download 3DMark Vantage and hope for some news before the Roman year is out. µ
Isn't that the 3DM01 engine?

Small update :
Quote:
Dear people,

We feel we owe you all a small heads up, and our apologies for lack of updates. This is just part of our psychological thriller, is it all real or imagined...
Seriously, yes, we're still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we've been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward.

We want to entertain you guys in the best possible way and our team is putting in every effort possible in order for that to happen. That is the way Remedy wants to do things. I'm sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we're done.

Just follow the light...

Well, given Remedy's track record with MP1 and MP2, I'd say that giving them a little bit more time to perfect the game will turn out to be worth it in the end.

'till then, there are plenty of games for us to play!
