Question How can u tell u have an ultra

After reading newegg again I'm wondering if my card coming is an ultra.
Here is the pny part #. VC-GF5800UA8E12D

They list it as an ultra and it has a U after the 5800.
I noticed they have the Asus non ultra listed at 16gb sec
and the fill rate at 4 bil.

I just hope it's not a screwup on there part and it's not an ultra.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1

Can u look and tell if it is before u install it?
Markings?

It seems Asus and PNY is using flow fx's on the non ultras.

Any idea's?

http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=V9900&langs=01

Newegg list all the fx's as having flow fx.

so far as I know, all 5800's and 5800 Ultra's have FX-Flow. The main difference is check the specs, because non-ultra have a core of 400mhz, while Ultra has 500mhz. If no specs are listed, then I'm afraid there is no way to know the difference strictly by physical appearance.

Only 5600 and 5200 donot come with FX-Flow

Incorrect. The reference 5800 non-ultra does not have Flow FX. Although some vendors might want to put it, but I really don't know why they'd want to do that...

The official way you'll be able to tell is when you install drivers. The card will either install as a GeForceFX 5800 or FX 5800 Ultra.

The good news is though bkswaney that it looks very likley its the Ultra. As you say the code is 5800U and it says ultra in the title. Just after AGP 8x so i dont think you will be disapointed. The price also seems about right $399.

Well two sure fire ways to find out are:

1. When you boot up and run a 3D app all the animals in the neighbourhood go deaf. Simultaneously...
2. If the ambient temp of your part of the globe increases by ~1-4 degrees. Thus causing the polar ice caps to melt and the end of the world as we know it. Oh and if the lights dim as the power grid adjusts to the load.

Got it. It's any ultra.
Come in a box like retail.
The only thing it does not have
is drivers etc.
Come with book and all.
I'll install tonight.
It's a Ref board it seems.
There is nothing on it that says PNY.
