That's true and I had to drop to 800x600 to use 2X AA and 8X Aniso.

During game play testing, I used FRAPS to log frame rates while playing against 6 bots on the outdoor map DM-Antalus. Sure, performance was much better in the indoor map DM-Asbestos, but I think settings should be tuned for the worst case scenerio.

The 5600 Ultra yielded an average frame rate of 53 and minimum of 35 using balanced (quality) texture filtering. Shadows were disabled and hardware sound was enabled.

Performance at 1024x768 with no AA and no Aniso was about the same at 56/36.

Aggressive (performance) texture filtering increased performance around 5-10%, but I found it didn't provide enough of an increase to make a difference in many of the games I tested.

In my opinion, aggressive mode is more of an option for benchmarking purposes

my ****ing Geforce3 does 1024x768 with 4x FSAA and NO ANISO (just trilinear) and gets over 50fps in combat.

what the hell is going on with those nv3x cards ? the 5800ultra satisfies me with its performance in every way, honestly, when not letting benchmarks tell me what its worth. but thats the highest clocked 1ghz model. when i hear about nv3x cards that actually underperform Geforce4 solutions, thats just completely unacceptable. not when theyve had the massive amount of time and resources on this.

What is wrong in bringing out cards that offer enough performance for the casual gamer, or the person who plays solitair and watches a few flash things on the web?

Sure they aren't great performers, and gf4's beat them. But they're alot cheaper than the price of GF4's were when they came out.

I paid like 300 for my gf4. I wouldn't expect nv to release a 60 quid card that beats it.

If you want top performance pay the money, and get a 5800/ultra/9700..

Just because they re-vamp the whole product line, doesn't mean the lowest common denominator must beat the top of the range previous generation card. Who said it has to!?

Nice result

Actually that is a very good setup you have in your sig, very balanced and a nice monitor.

In regards to Jakup, the new Canterwood MSI boards looks very very nice, check it out. I am tempted to leave AMD and go to the darkside.

Regards

Andy
