Default Problems with EDID

The newest proprietary driver "169.07" seems to have problems with my laptop monitor's EDID which makes the driver unusable for me.

It defaults to 640x480 which my laptop does not support and results in a white screen that fades to garbage.

I'm having a problem where any custom modelines I try to specify seem to be completely ignored though, so I have no idea what the preferred workaround is. Any help?

Also, this combination seems to get it's info fine using the "nv" driver through DDC. That is a little surprising to me because when I try to use the get-edid program from http://john.fremlin.de/programs/linux/read-edid/, it is also unable to read it. Any ideas about what the nv driver does differently from both get-edid and the proprietary driver?

Default Re: Problems with EDID

    Option "UseEDID" "FALSE"
    Option "ModeValidation" "NoPredefinedModes"
    Option "ModeValidation" "NoXServerModes"
    Option "ModeValidation" "NoEdidModes"
    Option "ModeValidation" "NoVesaModes"
sticking that under "Screen" section will stop it using default modelines (and use only what you have nxorg.conf) but i dunno if it'll help you or not.
