Honestly, the loading on PS3 isn't worse than the 360, contrary to popular belief. Look at the ridiculous load times on Mass Effect.
And to add even further confusion, the load times drastically decreased in Mass Effect having picked up a new Elite with what appears to be a Benq drive.

My observations of PS3 loads, they really aren't that bad. The only thing that pisses me off is when ingame interactivity is slow to load mid-game. Happens way too often for my liking, but the load times before levels and what not... no problem IMO.

Can't speak for the ps3, but the 360 has fairly long loading times in quite alot of games. VF5 has way too long loading times for a fighting game, DOA4 handles this much better as it uses hdd cache. Collin mcrae dirt is another good example of really bad loading times.
To me it seems not all games supports hdd caching on the 360. Prolly due to those core packs ....

I hope more games mask the loadtimes like Mass Effect did. Pity they couldn't mask ALL the loading screens.

It's understandable tho, it's U3 engine used in an open rpg, with big spaces, nice textures etc etc. I mean it's not gears of war with it's narrow spaces and railroad tracks ...

You get texture popups in GoW too if you back track just a small bit. Same thing happens even in Bioshock from time to time despite it's lowres textures if you run around and die/respawn.

Texture streaming on a 12x dvd drive ... and if you got a samsung one then its prolly even worse.

What we need is an engine optimized for the 360 to overcome such "flaws", and Im sure it will happen eventually.

More Sony needs to license out the Naughty Dog engine from Uncharted... and maybe even get Insomniac to license out their Resistance tech.

Just so you know,Motorstorm is one of few games that has terrible loading times. I'm not sure what games on 360 loading time is (as in properly measured in seconds), so I can't tell if 15 seconds sounds like normal or a bit above normal.
