Talking Re: ThermalTake is a piece of ****!

I have the MCRES-1000 and I like it. Loops with res's bleed quicker and this specific res is completely silent, even while running at its minimum operating level.

Should I take the D-TEK FuZion CPU Accelerator Nozzle Kit too?
Thats completely up to you, you're going to have to try it with the different nozzles that it comes with, usually the quad splitter gives the best results. Its pretty cheap so why not

nope, minimum, the lower the level you operate it at the louder it should be due to the increased turbulance within the res... at maximum it should be dead silent

Updated shopping list:

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos 1000
Pump: Swiftech MCP655 (Laing D5)
CPU Waterblock: D-Tek FuZion + D-TEK FuZion CPU Accelerator Nozzle Kit
VGA Waterblock: Swiftech MCW60
Radiator: Swiftech MCR220 QP 2X120mm
Reservoir: Swiftech MCRES-Micro AGB
Tubes: Undecided

Two questions:
Does anyone know if swiftech's bigger (and biggest) radiator model, the MCR320 QP 3X120mm would fit internally in the Cosmos case?
And that "D-TEK FuZion CPU Accelerator Nozzle Kit" is the won you were talking about right lord-ex-bu? Sounds like you think it's worth teh money

yup thats the kit I am talking about

The MCR320-QP will fit up there but you will need to modify the case. I think there is a new version of the cosmos with the air holes pre-cut so you may want to look into that.

That micro res is sweet. If I went back to a res, that would be the one I used. I built two other water cooled systems for friends with the micro res, they are a pleasure to work with, bleeding is much quicker and it's cheaper than all the hardware for a T line.

Gargh I just feel like if I change the case and watercooling, I might as well change the CPU too, because I know I didn't get a Q6600 with the best stepping (whatever that means); I just know it doesn't OC past 3ghz right now, I know that the weak watercooling I have right now is also to blame but I'd damn tempting to buy a penryn processor now I'm at it..

I know I've just moved into the realm of craziness but I must bring this question forth: Would waiting a bit more for the X48 shipset and buying a penryn QX9650 processor be futureproof in any way also in regards to supported PCI Express 2.0 for new graphicscards or something like that? I'd probably buy the DDR3 just to get the future proofness, probably wouldn't get more than 2x1 gb ram because DDR3 costs a kidney. I'm thinking of selling my P35 blitz formula, kandalf case and DDR2 RAM, keeping my 8800GTX, Audigy2, RaptorX harddiscs, powersupply and throw in a X48 motherboard, QX9650 CPU and all this watercooling we've been talking about into a Cosmos case. I'm simply so much in love with that case. But I'm not sure I understand intels "tick-tock"-strategy correctly, is Penryn or Nehalem gonna be the biggest step performancewise?

I mean those guys who were the first to buy the Conroe processor has gotten their money's worth despite of the initial high cost IMO. If penryn could be an equally "future-proof" processor I might just spend that ****load of money right now to feel that the new water cooling system is gonna be 100% worth it since I've understood that QX9650 is a very overclockable processor. So besides this case, mobo, cpu, and ddr3-ram purchase, I'd later on buy more/faster DD3 when prices drops as well as the next-gen Nvidia graphicscard when it comes, then live with that setup until the whole thing is totally outdated in 4 years time.

Please state your opinion on all this. I'm kinda going crazy right now. I'm almost feeling like either I wanna go all the way or just buy a new TT pump for 40$ and live with it until nehalem arrives or something..

personally I wouldn't buy the penryn processors... I may upgrade to a x38 mainboard but you also have to remember that when the nehalem based cpus come out it will be two completely different sockets and any motherboard you buy right now will basically be obsolete.

I would stay with the q6600 that you have and just wait till nehalem.

Ok... but why would you upgrade to an X38 board when you're not planning on penryn?

And do you reckon that the difference between penryn and nehalem will be so big that you'd regret not having the socket supporting nahelam?

And are you sure that nehalem will indeed be launched with a new socket?

it will be two different sockets that it will be launched in.

I only say that I may upgrade to an x38 for pcie 2.0 and possibly DDRIII, my evga 680i is about to give up the ghost as well and I don't want to deal with it anymore
